1. The Rally System: Aggression as Defense
Bloodborne rejects defensive turtling. When struck by an enemy, your missing health turns into an orange recoverable gauge for 3 seconds. Striking enemies during this window restores lost health point-for-point. Hesitating and backing away loses the health permanently. Maintain ferocious offensive pressure to stay alive without consuming Blood Vials.
2. Gun Parrying & Visceral Attack Timing
Your left-hand firearm (Hunter Pistol or Blunderbuss) is an interruption parry tool, not a damage dealer. Fire your weapon at the exact apex of the enemy’s downward forward swing animation. If timed correctly, a sharp metallic chiming sound plays and the enemy drops to their knees. Sprint forward and press R1 to execute a visceral attack.
3. Trick Weapon L1 Transformation Combos
Every trick weapon features two distinct forms connected by transformation strikes (L1). Chaining R1 -> L1 -> L1 executes high-damage fluid transformation combos that stagger larger beasts like Werewolves and Scourge Beasts. The Saw Cleaver and Saw Spear deal +20% serrated bonus damage against all beast-type monsters.
4. Blood Gem Imprints in Chalice Dungeons
To maximize weapon attack power, descend into the Chalice Dungeons to farm cursed Tempering Blood Gems. High-tier gems grant +27.2% Physical ATK each, transforming your weapon from a baseline 300 AR into a 850+ AR monster-slaying weapon. Look for gems with stamina curses rather than attack degradation curses.
5. Insight Economy & Frenzy Mitigation
Carrying high Insight (40+) lowers your Frenzy resistance and makes invisible Amygdala monsters appear throughout Cathedral Ward. When exploring the Nightmare Frontier and Mensis, spend your Insight at the bath messenger shop to keep Insight below 15. Equip the Deep Sea rune and carry Sedatives to counter Frenzy build-up instantly.
