Xbox Series X 120Hz VRR + Dolby Vision Gaming: Best system settings for Doom: The Dark Ages & Fable

For everyone playing on Xbox Series X connected to an HDMI 2.1 OLED TV: make sure you set your console output to 4K 120Hz with Variable Refresh Rate set to "Gaming Only" and uncheck "Allow YCC 4:2:2" so the console uses full 40Gbps/48Gbps 10-bit RGB uncompressed bandwidth. Also remember to fully Quit online multiplayer games before launching them rather than relying on Quick Resume so authentication tokens don't desync!

Spot on regarding YCC 4:2:2! Leaving that box unchecked forces HDMI 2.1 Fixed Rate Link (FRL) at 10-bit 4:4:4 RGB. Also, calibrate the Xbox HDR Game Calibration app with HGIG enabled on your TV so peak specular highlights don't clip at 600 nits.

Another huge benefit of keeping Xbox Series X in the 120Hz container even for 60 FPS games is Low Framerate Compensation (LFC) and reduced system-level input latency (~6ms lower scanout delay compared to 60Hz output).
